Basketball Recap: Vancleave Bulldogs vs. St. Patrick Fighting Irish
The Vancleave Bulldogs lost against the St. Patrick Fighting Irish back in November of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Vancleave was the victim of a tough 60-40 defeat at the hands of the Fighting Irish. While losing is never fun, Vancleave can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 285th, while the Fighting Irish are ranked 86th).
Matt Krass continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for St. Patrick, scoring 25 points along with six rebounds and three steals. That makes it 16 consecutive games in which Krass has scored at least a third of St. Patrick's points. Another player making a difference was Jack Hewes, who scored 15 points along with two steals.
Vancleave dropped their record down to 2-21 with that loss, which was their fifth straight at home. As for St. Patrick, the win (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 19-7.
Vancleave does not have any more games scheduled as of now. St. Patrick will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against the Rock-a-Chaws at 5:30 p.m. on February 8th.
