Baseball Game Preview: Boquet Valley Griffins vs. Northeastern Clinton Cougars

The Boquet Valley Griffins are packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game of the season: they will challenge the Northeastern Clinton Cougars at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

Boquet Valley is headed into Wednesday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their eighth straight game dating back to last season on Wednesday. They came up short against Lake Placid, falling 15-1.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Northeastern Clinton). Everything went their way against AuSable Valley on Tuesday as they made off with a 15-5 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Cougars.

Jacob Perkins was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Perkins was also solid in the batter's box, scoring four runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-4. Those runs were his first of the season.

In other batting news, Robert McIntyre was incredible, going 1-for-4 with four RBI and two runs. That hit marked the first that he got this season. Another player making a difference was Cobe LaFountain, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.

Boquet Valley's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Northeastern Clinton, they picked up their first home victory, bumping their record up to 2-3.

Boquet Valley suffered a grim 15-2 defeat to Northeastern Clinton in their previous meeting back in April of 2022. Can the Griffins avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
