Football Recap: Starkville Piles Up the Points Against Murrah

Starkville won the last time they faced Murrah and things went their way on Friday too. The Yellowjackets simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Mustangs 55-14. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Yellowjackets' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi football rankings (they are ranked sixth, while the Mustangs are ranked 157th).

A'Braylen Jenkins was his usual excellent self, rushing for 84 yards and a pair of scores, while also picking up 40 receiving yards. Kingston Johnson was another key player, throwing for 217 yards and two TDs while completing 86.7% of his passes.

Starkville's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-2. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 21.2 points. As for Murrah, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-8.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Starkville will welcome Madison Central at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Murrah, they will host Oxford at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
