Softball Recap: St. David Tigers vs. Morenci Wildcats

After a string of six wins, St. David's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They took a 10-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Morenci Wildcats.

Anissa Jacquez was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with three RBI and a double.

On Morenci's side, Cameryn Woodall made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off three hits. Woodall has been consistent recently: she hasn't pitched less than five innings in three consecutive pitching appearances. Woodall was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Alizabeth Aguilar was incredible, going 3-for-4 with a home run, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Tiara Jones, who went 2-for-3 with a triple and an RBI.

St. David's defeat ended an 11-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 10-2-1. As for Morenci, their victory was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-3.

St. David will be playing in front of their home fans against San Manuel at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday.
