Volleyball Recap: Garretson Takes a Loss

Garretson was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Alcester-Hudson Cubs. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Garretson took a 2-1 lead headed into the fourth set, but sadly they lost the next two. The final score came out to 25-18, 25-27, 20-25, 25-22, 15-6.

Despite the loss, Garretson saw an underclassman step up: freshman Bryn Stiefvater had 11 digs and three aces. Those 11 digs set a new season-high mark for Stiefvater. Ava Peters also deserves some recognition as she served her first ace of the season.

Garretson's defeat dropped their record down to 2-14. As for Alcester-Hudson, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-11.

Garretson didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 3-1 win against Elkton/Lake Benton on the 6th. As for Alcester-Hudson, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 3-0 loss against Parker/Marion on the 2nd.
