University triumphant thanks to a strong effort from Ethan Adams

Recap: University Cougars vs. Horizon Hawks

Even though the Horizon Hawks scored an imposing 56 points on Friday, the University Cougars still came out on top. University walked away with a 63-56 victory over Horizon. Given University's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 55th, while Horizon is ranked 504th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

It was another big night for Ethan Adams, who scored 18 points along with six assists and six steals. He continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Noah Nazario, who scored 13 points along with three steals.

Despite the loss, Horizon still got an impressive performance from Adonys Christo, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Diego Rojas, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds.

University is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 12 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season. As for Horizon, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-12 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. University's road trip will continue as they head out to face East River at 7:30 p.m. on January 23rd. As for Horizon, they will square off against Lake Mary Prep at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
