Recap: Roma Gladiators vs. Martin Tigers
The Roma Gladiators's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They took a 44-39 hit to the loss column at the hands of Martin. Roma has struggled against Martin recently, as their contest on Tuesday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
It was another big night for Kiara Gonzalez, who scored 16 points along with seven rebounds and four steals for Martin. Gonzalez hasn't dropped below two steals for five straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Maria Manrique, who scored eight points along with five steals.
Roma's loss dropped their record down to 21-8. As for Martin, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a massive bump to their 12-16 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Roma will square off against Rio Grande City at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Rio Grande City is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak. As for Martin, they will head out on the road to face off against Mission Veterans Memorial at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Mission Veterans Memorial is out to stop a three-game streak of losses at home.
