Preview: Homer Trojans vs. Cortland Purple Tigers

Homer has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will challenge the Cortland Purple Tigers at 6:45 p.m. on Friday.

Last Thursday, things could have been worse for Homer, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 54-38 loss to Chittenango. While losing is never fun, Homer can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 331st, while Chittenango is ranked 107th).

Cortland posted their closest victory yet this season on Wednesday. They skirted past Solvay 51-48. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Cortland.

Cortland relied on the efforts of Damauri Bell, who scored 12 points along with four steals, and Caden Albright, who scored 22 points along with three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Albright has scored all season.

Homer's defeat dropped their record down to 5-5. As for Cortland, their victory bumped their record up to 4-10.

Homer was able to grind out a solid win over Cortland when the teams last played back in December of 2023, winning 37-28. Will Homer repeat their success, or does Cortland have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
