Softball Recap: Walden Grove Extends Home Winning Streak to Five

There's no place like home for Walden Grove, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They came out on top against the Ironwood Ridge Nighthawks by a score of 8-3 on Wednesday. This was a revenge game for the Red Wolves: when they faced off against the Nighthawks on Monday, they had to take a 12-2 defeat.

Maddie Holzer spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on four hits and racked up 11 Ks.

On the hitting side, Natalie Holzer was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs and two doubles. The team also got some help courtesy of Patricia Mejia, who went 3-for-4 with two RBI.

Walden Grove pushed their record up to 12-9 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Ironwood Ridge, they moved to 15-10 with that loss, which also ended their four-game winning streak.

Walden Grove didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 9-0 defeat against Sunnyside on the 24th. Ironwood Ridge does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
