Baseball Recap: Waccamaw Victorious

Waccamaw took a ten-run loss the last time they faced off against Johnsonville, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Warriors won by a run and slipped past the Flashes 7-6. For the Warriors, this counts as revenge for the 17-7 victory the Flashes walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2024.

Bayden Stacy looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.

On the hitting side, Evan Barnett was excellent, scoring a run while going 3-for-3. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Nathaniel Mabus, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

The win made it two in a row for Waccamaw and bumps their season record up to 7-5. As for Johnsonville, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 7-3 record.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Waccamaw will challenge Dillon at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The Warriors are facing the Wildcats at the right time seeing as the Wildcats are stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Johnsonville, they will host Hemingway at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Tigers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 14.2 runs per game on average), something the Flashes will no doubt try to take advantage of.
