Preview: Dixon Bulldogs vs. Swansboro Pirates
Two dominant in Brayden Anderson-Sidbury and Jonah Holt are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Dixon Bulldogs will be playing in front of their home fans against the Swansboro Pirates at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Dixon has struggled recently with five defeats in a row, while the Pirates will arrive with 17 straight victories.
Dixon pushed their score all the way to 61 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 78-61 bruising from West Carteret. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Dixon in their matchups with the Patriots: they've now lost five in a row.
Meanwhile, it may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Swansboro ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They came out on top against White Oak by a score of 72-64. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Swansboro's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jermaine Cunningham, who scored 27 points along with seven rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Cunningham has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Holt, who scored 16 points along with seven rebounds and five assists.
Dixon has not been sharp recently as the team's lost nine of their last ten games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-13 record this season. As for Swansboro, they pushed their record up to 18-1 with that victory, which was their ninth straight on the road.
Dixon was taken down by the Pirates 73-40 in their previous meeting last Wednesday. Will Dixon have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more basketball content.
