Baseball Recap: Lawson Continues Home Dominance on Monday

Lawson came tearing into Monday's game with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They never let the Martin Luther King Jr. Magnet Royals get on the board and left with a 10-0 win. Ten seems to be a good number for the Lightning as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Hut Hargrove and C.J. Thornton did most of the damage at the plate: Hargrove went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run, while Thornton went 1-for-2 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one double. That's the most stolen bases Thornton has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Cal Hopkins, who earned two runs and three stolen bases.

Lawson pushed their record up to 19-10 with the win, which was their ninth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Martin Luther King Jr. Magnet, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 12-9-1.

Lawson will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Royals: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
