Baseball Game Preview: Tulia Hornets vs. Bushland Falcons

Tulia hasn't had much luck against Bushland recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Hornets will look to defend their home field against the Falcons at 4:30 p.m. Tulia has given up an average of 7.4 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Tulia couldn't beat Dalhart on Tuesday even though they stacked eight runs on them in the fifth inning. The Hornets lost 20-11 to the Wolves. The Hornets have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Tulia got a massive performance out of Jarvis Pestrana, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Pestrana is becoming a predictor of the Hornets' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 11-1 (and 3-8-1 when he doesn't). Xavier Ortiz was another key player, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Bushland unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Thursday. They fell just short of Dalhart by a score of 7-6.

Reece Melban was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Colton Strickland, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs and one double.

Bushland's loss dropped their record down to 14-11. As for Tulia, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-9-1.

Friday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Tulia has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .449. However, it's not like Bushland struggles in that department as they've averaged .492. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
