Volleyball Recap: Mt. Mansfield Comes Up Short

Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, Mt. Mansfield couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Essex Hornets on Sunday. The Cougars haven't had much luck with the Hornets recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Jake Philbrick paced Mt. Mansfield's offense, picking up 12 kills. Philbrick got some help from Holden Lerner and his 26 assists. Finally, Philbrick was also a dominant defender, finishing with a team-high 11 blocks.

Mt. Mansfield's defeat dropped their record down to 13-4. As for Essex, their victory bumped their record up to 16-0.

As of now, neither Mt. Mansfield nor the Hornets have any future games scheduled.
