Preview: StoneBridge Cavaliers vs. TEACH
The StoneBridge Cavaliers will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against TEACH at 7:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (StoneBridge has three straight victories, TEACH has nine straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Last Friday, StoneBridge didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Denbigh Baptist Christian, but they still walked away with a 31-25 victory.
Tyler Thompson was his usual excellent self, scoring 13 points along with six steals and five rebounds. He hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Boden Brueseke, who scored seven points.
TEACH suffered their biggest loss yet this season last Saturday. They were the victim of a tough 71-49 defeat at the hands of Spirit HomeSchool.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Nikolas Neuhofer, who dropped a triple-double on 14 points, 11 rebounds, and ten blocks. Neuhofer is absolutely dominating the block category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Trey Mozingo, who scored 23 points along with seven rebounds.
TEACH struggled to work together and finished the game with only an assist. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
The victory got StoneBridge back to even at 7-7. As for TEACH, their loss was their sixth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 2-9.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: StoneBridge have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 27.9 rebounds per game. It's a different story for TEACH, though, as they've been averaging only 31.8 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out. Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
