Basketball Game Preview: Thales Academy Apex Titans vs. Neuse Christian Academy Lions

The Thales Academy Apex Titans will venture away from home to square off against the Neuse Christian Academy Lions at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Thales Academy Apex will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.

Last Friday, Thales Academy Apex got the win against Trinity of Durham and Chapel Hill by a conclusive 48-27. The Titans have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight matches by 21 points or more this season.

It was another big night for Anna Maass, who posted 20 points and five rebounds. Kate Sproul was another key player, putting up nine points along with five boards and four steals.

Meanwhile, Neuse Christian Academy ended up a good deal behind Hilltop Christian on Monday and lost 40-25. The Lions have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the loss, Neuse Christian Academy saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Lyla Lindstrom scored 12 points and seven rebounds. Lindstrom is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played.

Thales Academy Apex has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.9 points per game. As for Neuse Christian Academy, they now have a losing record at 8-9.

Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Thales Academy Apex has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 33.2 boards per game. However, it's not like Neuse Christian Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 35.8 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.

Thales Academy Apex took their victory against Neuse Christian Academy in their previous matchup two weeks ago by a conclusive 61-39. The rematch might be a little tougher for Thales Academy Apex since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
