Basketball Recap: Malachi Smith's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Riverton over Rock Springs

Riverton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They fell 63-52 to the Rock Springs TIGERS. The match was a 31-31 toss-up at halftime, but the Wolverines couldn't quite close it out.

Several Wolverines players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Malachi Smith, who went 6-for-15 on his way to 16 points and eight rebounds. Smith has been hot recently, having posted eight or more boards the last four times he's played. Ryan Cox was another key player, putting up nine points and seven rebounds.

Rock Springs found their leader in sophomore Boston James, who went 8-for-14 to rack up 18 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Sam Eddy, who posted nine points.

Riverton's defeat dropped their record down to 5-13. As for Rock Springs, they now have a winning record of 8-7.

Riverton has already played their next game (against Green River), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Rock Springs, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 67-54 win against Evanston on the 15th.
