Sweetwater finds playoff glory versus Vincent Memorial

Recap: Sweetwater Red Devils vs. Vincent Memorial Scots

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only the Sweetwater Red Devils walked away with it. They walked away with a 46-37 win over the Scots on Friday. Sweetwater's victory was all the more impressive since Vincent Memorial was averaging only 17.62 points allowed on the season.

Xzavier Crews was his usual excellent self, rushing for 162 yards and three touchdowns on only 13 carries. Crews is on a roll when it comes to rushing touchdowns, as he's now punched in two or more in the last three games he's played. Sweetwater also got a significant boost from Carlos David Delgado, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 105 yards.

Despite the loss, Vincent Memorial still got an impressive performance from Jacobo Elias, who threw for 334 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 11.1 yards per attempt. Elias hasn't dropped below three passing touchdowns for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Miguel Ruiz, who picked up 170 receiving yards and a touchdown.

The victory (which was Sweetwater's fourth in a row) raised their record to 7-6. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 39.0 points per game. As for Vincent Memorial, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-4.

Sweetwater will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on St. Monica at 6:00 p.m. on December 2nd. St. Monica is looking to tack on another W to their six-game streak on the road. Vincent Memorial does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
