Softball Recap: Crystal River Picks Up 11th Straight Win at Home

With a playoff win on the line, Crystal River rose to the challenge on Tuesday. They won by a run and slipped past The Villages Charter Buffalo 1-0. The Pirates' pitching crew has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a run in their last four matchups.

The Villages Charter's batters probably weren't too happy with Violet Flynn, who pitched a no hitter and racked up 16 Ks (she gave up zero walks). Flynn has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 26 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Crystal River saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kirsten Schaak, who went 1-for-3 with one run.

Crystal River pushed their record up to 24-5 with the victory, which was their 11th straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.5 runs over those games. As for The Villages Charter, their loss dropped their record down to 14-11.

Crystal River wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 13-4 defeat against Eustis on the 15th. The Villages Charter does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
