Softball Game Preview: Sheehan Titans vs. Mercy Tigers

The Sheehan Titans will head out to take on the Mercy Tigers at 4:15 p.m. on Monday.

Sheehan came up short against Guilford on Friday, falling 10-3. The Titans have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Mercy had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.8 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Nighthawks with a sharp 6-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won nine matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Mercy's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-3. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Sheehan, their loss dropped their record down to 6-9.

Sheehan couldn't quite get it done against Mercy when the teams last played back in April as they fell 11-8. Can the Titans avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
