Baseball Game Preview: Brillion Lions vs. Kewaunee Storm

The Brillion Lions will head out to square off against the Kewaunee Storm at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Brillion will be strutting in after a win while Kewaunee will be coming in after a loss.

Brillion took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Saturday. Everything went their way against Hilbert as they made off with an 8-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Lions, who have now won three matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Not much got past Chase Braun, who gave up just a hit and racked up 11 Ks to keep Hilbert off the board. Braun has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Hayden Cousin, who went 3-for-4 with three doubles, two runs, and one stolen base. Those three doubles gave him a new career-high. Blake Kettner also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Brillion was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .407. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hilbert only posted a batting average of .048.

Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Kewaunee's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They fell just short of Two Rivers by a score of 7-6.

Brady Pribek was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Pribek was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two RBI.

The win got Brillion back to even at 5-5. As for Kewaunee, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-3.

Brillion came up short against Kewaunee when the teams last played back in April of 2024, falling 7-2. Can the Lions avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
