Basketball Game Preview: East Davidson Golden Eagles vs. West Davidson Dragons

The East Davidson Golden Eagles will head out on the road to take on the West Davidson Dragons at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. East Davidson is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50.5 points per game this season.

East Davidson is headed into the match having just posted their biggest victory since December 27, 2023 on Tuesday. They blew past South Davidson 78-56. With the Golden Eagles ahead 47-13 at the half, the game was all but over already.

East Davidson's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Tegin Hedrick led the charge by putting up 27 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which Hedrick has scored at least a third of East Davidson's points. Another player making a difference was Landin Newton, who posted 22 points.

Meanwhile, West Davidson was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their tenth straight loss. They were one points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 55-54 heartbreaker at the hands of South Davidson. One positive for the Dragons, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.

West Davidson's defeat dropped their record down to 1-15. As for East Davidson, their win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 3-12.

East Davidson was able to grind out a solid victory over West Davidson when the teams last played back in December of 2024, winning 52-42. The rematch might be a little tougher for East Davidson since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
