Baseball Recap: Oxnard Comes Up Short

Oxnard was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost an 11-9 heartbreaker at the hands of the Santa Barbara Dons. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Yellowjackets have suffered since April 19, 2024.

Steven Lira was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with four RBI and one run. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Aiden Berrelleza, who scored three runs while going 2-for-3.

Oxnard's loss dropped their record down to 4-9. As for Santa Barbara, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-3-1.

Coming up, Oxnard will be playing at home against Milken at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Santa Barbara, they will be taking part in a tournament against Summit at 9:00 a.m. on Monday.
