Softball Recap: Mt. Vernon Gets the Win

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Mt. Vernon walked away with it. They came out on top against the Mascoutah Indians by a score of 9-5 on Wednesday. For the Rams, this counts as revenge for the 6-5 victory the Indians walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2025.

Danicah Tobin was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching seven innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two runs.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Paige Watson, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Allie Sweeten, who went 1-for-2 with three RBI and one run.

Mt. Vernon's win bumped their record up to 18-8. As for Mascoutah, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 20-9.

As of now, neither Mt. Vernon nor the Indians have any future games scheduled.
