Softball Recap: Walled Lake Western Wins Going Away Against Kettering

While Walled Lake Western put up plenty of runs on Wednesday, the same can't be said for Kettering. The Warriors blew past the Captains 17-0. The win continues a trend for the Warriors in their matchups with the Captains: they've now won five in a row.

Maddie Farrand was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Farrand was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season.

In other batting news, Walled Lake Western got a massive performance out of Sierra Geisler, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, five RBI, and two runs. Those five RBI gave Geisler a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Maddi Bancroft, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one triple.

Walled Lake Western hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in three consecutive games.

Walled Lake Western's victory bumped their record up to 9-19. As for Kettering, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-22-1.

Looking ahead, Walled Lake Western is taking a road trip to face off against Milford at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Warriors' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Mavericks have averaged an impressive 8.6 runs per game this season. Kettering does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
