Baseball Game Preview: North Schuylkill Spartans vs. Pottsville Crimson Tide

The North Schuylkill Spartans will head out to challenge the Pottsville Crimson Tide at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. North Schuylkill is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak.

The home team had won the previous four meetings between North Schuylkill and Notre Dame-Green Pond, and Notre Dame-Green Pond kept the tradition alive. The Spartans fell just short of the Crusaders by a score of 9-8 on Saturday.

Landen Smith was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. He has become a key player for North Schuylkill: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 3-11 otherwise. Max Gallagher was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and one double.

Meanwhile, Pottsville suffered their biggest defeat since March 18th on Thursday. They came up short against Blue Mountain, falling 13-1. The Crimson Tide's loss signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Pottsville saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Luke Schane, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one double.

North Schuylkill's record now sits at 5-12. As for Pottsville, their record is now 6-11.

North Schuylkill couldn't quite get it done against Pottsville when the teams last played back in April as they fell 7-3. Can the Spartans avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
