Baseball Recap: Willard Takes a Loss

If Willard was riding high fresh off their 13-3 takedown of Parkview on Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Tigers fell just short of the West Plains Zizzers by a score of 2-1 on Thursday. The Tigers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Zizzers earlier this season, when they won 8-2.

Willard's loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 9-1 and their overall record down to 43-8. As for West Plains, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-11 record this season.

Willard will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Glendale at 5:00 p.m. on June 3. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Tigers 2.5, the Falcons 3.8) so any runs scored will be well earned. West Plains does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
