Softball Game Preview: Lindbergh Eagles vs. Evergreen Wolverines

Lindbergh and Evergreen are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2021, but likely not for long. The Eagles will face off against the Wolverines at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams are coming into the match red-hot, with Lindbergh sitting on four straight wins and Evergreen on five.

If Lindbergh beats Evergreen with six runs on Tuesday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two games with that exact score. The Eagles beat Highline on Monday by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 6-4.

Hailey Rasmussen was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 16 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two RBI.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Evergreen). They were the clear victors by a 32-1 margin over Foster on Monday. The result was nothing new for the Wolverines, who have now won seven contests by 14 runs or more so far this season.

Lindbergh's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-6. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.8 runs over those games. As for Evergreen, their record now sits at 7-2.

Tuesday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Lindbergh has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .503. However, it's not like Evergreen struggles in that department as they've averaged .623. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

Lindbergh came up short against Evergreen in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, falling 5-1. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
