Basketball Recap: Ely Takes a Loss

Ely and Mountain Iron-Buhl squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but Ely had to settle for second. They took a blow against the Rangers, falling 87-43. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Timberwolves have suffered since November 21, 2025.

Mountain Iron-Buhl's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Izzy Wiita, who shot 70% from the field on her way to 18 points and four steals. Wiita has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 13 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Paige Norman, who went 6-for-8 to rack up 18 points and seven rebounds.

With the defeat, Ely broke their six-game winning streak and moved their record to 14-10. As for Mountain Iron-Buhl, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 28-1.

As of now, neither Ely nor the Rangers have any future games scheduled.
