Softball Recap: North Davidson Extends Winning Streak to Three

North Davidson barely beat Ledford the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Black Knights put the hurt on the Panthers with a sharp 11-4 victory on Thursday. The result was nothing new for the Black Knights, who have now won nine matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Rileigh Barker made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with five RBI and one double. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, North Davidson got a big performance out of Valerieh Juarez, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and two RBI. Bryton Zimmerman was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

North Davidson always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .595. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Ledford only posted an OBP of .355.

The win was the third in a row for North Davidson, bringing their record up to 15-6. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Ledford, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 13-6.

North Davidson does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Ledford, they will take on Providence Grove at 6:00 p.m. on the 25th.
