The Colony Cougars are taking a road trip to square off against the Mansfield Timberview Wolves at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Last Friday, The Colony strolled past Grapevine with points to spare, taking the game 38-23. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Cougars.

The Colony relied on the efforts of Kendrick McClodden, who gained 134 total yards, and Jaylen Gaines, who threw for 304 yards and three TDs. Gaines' passing game has become a key predictor of the Cougars' success: the team is 3-1 when his passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 1-3 otherwise. Tyler Osborne Jr also helped out as he racked up 100 receiving yards.

Another reason for the win was The Colony's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for five sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Camari Terrell and Anthony Love, who racked up all five sacks between them.

Meanwhile, Mansfield Timberview didn't have too much trouble with Grapevine on Thursday as they won 35-20. That's two games straight that the Wolves have won by exactly 15 points.

Mansfield Timberview's win came from a few key players The Colony will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Trysten Shaw, who picked up 92 receiving yards and one touchdown. Mylez Davis was in the mix too, providing Mansfield Timberview with two scores.

Mansfield Timberview didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Grapevine to a completion percentage of just 50%. That dominant aerial defense primarily came from two players: Caden Bates and Davin Hill, who each logged one passes deflected. Mansfield Timberview wasn't nearly as limited: they posted one of 42.3%.

The victory got The Colony back to even at 4-4. As for Mansfield Timberview, their record now sits at 6-3.
