Basketball Game Preview: Carl Hayden Community Falcons vs. Mountain Pointe Pride

The Carl Hayden Community Falcons will head out to face off against the Mountain Pointe Pride at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Mountain Pointe will be up against a hot Carl Hayden Community team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. Carl Hayden Community strolled past Youngker with points to spare on Wednesday, taking the game 79-61. Given the Falcons' advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 72nd, while the Roughriders are ranked 240th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Mountain Pointe earned an 84-73 win over Desert Mountain on Friday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Pride.

Mountain Pointe has also been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.5 points per game. As for Carl Hayden Community, they pushed their record up to 12-5 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home.

Carl Hayden Community came up short against Mountain Pointe when the teams last played back in November of 2019, falling 64-56. Can Carl Hayden Community avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
