Softball Recap: Herscher Comes Up Short

Herscher was the 12-8 winner over El Paso-Gridley when they last played one another back in May of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Tigers fell just short of the Titans by a score of 21-20 on Thursday.

Addy Whitaker led a balanced group of hitters, going 3-for-6 with four runs, three RBI, and one double. RyLyn Adams was another key player, going 3-for-5 with three stolen bases and four runs.

Herscher has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 13-9 record this season. As for El Paso-Gridley, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-14.

Looking ahead, Herscher will head out to face off against Gardner-South Wilmington at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Tigers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Panthers have averaged an impressive 6.8 runs per game this season. As for El Paso-Gridley, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Lexington at 4:30 p.m. The Titans are facing the Minutemen at the right time seeing as the Minutemen are stuck on a four-game losing streak.
