Softball Recap: Doherty Memorial Highlanders vs. Burncoat Patriots
Doherty Memorial had to kick off their season on the road on Thursday, but they showed no ill effects. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Burncoat Patriots an 11-0 shutout. Surprisingly, this marked the fifth straight game that the away team has come away the victor.
Hannah Kursonis was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over four innings pitched. Kursonis was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-5.
