Softball Recap: Blue Ridge Wins Going Away Against Travelers Rest

After losing to Travelers Rest the last time they met, Blue Ridge decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Fighting Tigers were the clear victors by a 16-9 margin over the Devildogs on Tuesday. Considering the Fighting Tigers have won five games by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

The team relied heavily on Grace Thompkins, who fired off three home runs and seven RBI while going 3-for-5. Those three home runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Bella Sands, who scored three runs while going 2-for-4.

Thompkins wasn't the only one working in the home run department: Blue Ridge lost a few balls and finished the game with four home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Blue Ridge is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 7-5 record this season. As for Travelers Rest, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-5 record this season.

Blue Ridge wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 12-2 win against Landrum on the 2nd. As for Travelers Rest, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 3-2 victory against Berea on the 4th.
