Baseball Recap: Concord Academy Drops Season-High Score on Southlake Christian Academy

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Concord Academy). They walked away with a 16-12 win over SouthLake Christian Academy on Tuesday. This was a revenge game for Concord Academy: when they faced off against SouthLake Christian Academy back in March, they had to take a 3-2 loss.

Noah Hatley made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over four innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off two hits. Hatley was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one run and one double.

In other batting news, Gray Madeira was incredible, going 3-for-5 with three stolen bases, five runs, and one RBI. Those five runs gave him a new career-high. Tripp Cantadore was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

Concord Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .523. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Concord Academy's victory bumped their record up to 5-9. As for SouthLake Christian Academy, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-8.

Concord Academy and SouthLake Christian Academy could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings. The Eagles (ranked 364th) will meet Hickory Grove Christian (ranked 116th) at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, SouthLake Christian Academy will take on Metrolina Christian Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday with a big rank disadvantage (246 vs. 3).
