Recap: Buena Colts vs. Ironwood Ridge Nighthawks
The Buena Colts posted their closest victory yet this season on Thursday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Ironwood Ridge and snuck past 72-70. Given Buena's advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 68th, while Ironwood Ridge is ranked 205th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Buena to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jamin Booker, who scored 20 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Booker hasn't dropped below 15points for three straight games. Mason Gordon was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with five assists and two steals.
Buena has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season. As for Ironwood Ridge, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-13.
Buena will stay at home for another game and welcome Brophy College Prep at 5:00 p.m. on January 13th. Ironwood Ridge won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Sunnyside at 7:00 p.m. on January 12th.
