Soccer Game Preview: Pius X vs. Conestoga

The Pius X Thunderbolts will head out on the road to challenge the Conestoga Cougars at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Neither squad made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Pius X is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Skutt Catholic just ended the team's four-match winning streak on Tuesday. They fell 3-1 to the SkyHawks. The contest was a 0-0 toss-up at halftime, but Pius X couldn't quite close it out.

Their goal came courtesy of George Medinger, which was the first he's scored this season.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Conestoga took on Roncalli Catholic on Tuesday. The Cougars came up short against the Lions, falling 4-0. The defeat continues a trend for Conestoga in their meetings with Roncalli Catholic: they've now lost three in a row.

Conestoga now has a losing record of 4-5. As for Pius X, their loss dropped their record down to 4-6.

Pius X got the 'W' when the teams last played back in April of 2025 against Conestoga by a conclusive 5-1 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Thunderbolts since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
