Softball Recap: Mt. Vernon Wildcats vs. Gibson Southern Titans
Mt. Vernon was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They wound up on the wrong side of a tough 10-2 walloping at the hands of the Gibson Southern Titans. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Mt. Vernon of the 7-4 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2023.

On Gibson Southern's side, Morgan Burgess spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on seven hits and racked up eight Ks. Burgess has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive pitching appearances.
