Basketball Recap: Salt Lake Academy Triumphs

Salt Lake Academy won the last time they faced Mount Vernon, and Braylon Brock did his part to make sure it happened again. The Salt Lake Academy Griffins took their match on Saturday with ease, bagging a 64-33 win over the Mount Vernon Patriots thanks in part to Brock, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 13 boards. His morning made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points.

Elijah Johnson was another key player, going 5 of 6 on his way to 10 points and five steals. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in steals.

Despite the loss, Mount Vernon still got an impressive performance from Andre Hernandez, who posted 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Robert Wharton, who had six points.

Salt Lake Academy now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Mount Vernon, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-9.

Salt Lake Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 73-35 loss against Green River on the 21st. As for Mount Vernon, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Tabiona at 6:00 p.m. on January 9, 2025.
