Soccer Game Preview: Coconino vs. Mohave

Coconino is 2-7 against Mohave since January of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Coconino Panthers will face off against the Mohave Thunderbirds at 6:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Coconino's defense heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. Everything went their way against Bradshaw Mountain as Coconino made off with a 4-0 win. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for the Panthers considering their one-goal performance the matchup before.

They hit Bradshaw Mountain with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Wylan Smith (2), Sydney Garcia, and Sayler Smith.

Meanwhile, after failing to score in their last contest, Mohave made sure to put some goals up on the board against Marcos de Niza on Friday. They blew past the Padres 5-1.

Coconino's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-3-1. As for Mohave, their win bumped their record up to 6-7-2.

Coconino came out on top in a nail-biter against Mohave in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, sneaking past 2-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for Coconino since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
