Baseball Recap: Blacksburg Wildcats vs. Lewisville Lions
Blacksburg unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They took a 10-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lewisville Lions on Tuesday. The Wildcats were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Lions apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2023.
Matty Cody put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Cody was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances.
Cody wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Easton Ramsey, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.
The victory made it two in a row for Lewisville and bumps their season record up to a perfect 2-0.
Coming up, a feisty cat fight will be fought as the Wildcats take on the Cougars at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Lewisville, they will face off against Lancaster at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
