Baseball Recap: IMG Academy White Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for IMG Academy White, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They came out on top against the Prestonsburg Blackcats by a score of 6-2 on Monday.

IMG Academy White got a great performance from Avriel Tostado as he struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. Those eight strikeouts gave Tostado a new career-high.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Owen Armstead, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. That triple marked the first that he hit this season. Another player making a difference was Eli Bayer, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

IMG Academy White was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Prestonsburg only posted a batting average of .160.

IMG Academy White has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 7-11 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.5 runs over those games. The defeat snapped Prestonsburg's winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 3-4 record.

Looking ahead, IMG Academy White will face off against Gateway at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Gateway will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something IMG Academy White surely won't give up without a fight. As for Prestonsburg, they will take on Bradenton Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Prestonsburg's pitchers better be ready for this one: Bradenton Christian has averaged an impressive 6.5 runs per game this season.
