Canyon Crest Academy saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kelly Stroot, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base and one run. Another was Julia Piekarski, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Central had already won two in a row and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They blew past the Cougars 13-2. That looming 13-2 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Spartans yet this season.
Kaylani Torres made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out six over five innings pitched. Those six strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was even better at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season.
In other batting news, Thalisa Soto was a standout: she got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Kaylee Loya was another key player, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with three runs.
Central hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in three consecutive games.
Canyon Crest Academy's loss dropped their record down to 14-13-1. As for Central, their win bumped their record up to 9-14.
Central's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Canyon Crest Academy hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .325. It's a different story for Central, though, as they've only averaged .238. Will they be able to contain Canyon Crest Academy's hitters?
Canyon Crest Academy couldn't quite get it done against Central in their previous matchup back in March of 2024 as they fell 8-4. Can the Ravens avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
