Basketball Recap: Pine River-Backus Takes a Loss

Pine River-Backus was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They lost 68-43 to the Park Rapids Panthers. The game marked the Tigers' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Park Rapids' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Landon Strasburg, who went 7 of 10 on his way to 15 points and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryan Carroll, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds.

Pine River-Backus' loss dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Park Rapids, their win bumped their record up to 2-3.

Pine River-Backus will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Long Prairie-Grey Eagle at 7:30 p.m. on January 3, 2025. Park Rapids will also get a bit of a break before their next contest: they'll face off against Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton at 7:30 p.m. on January 6, 2025.
