Floyd County hasn't had much luck against Patrick County recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Buffaloes will welcome the Cougars at 5:00 p.m. The two teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.
Floyd County will bounce into Thursday's game after beating Pulaski County, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Buffaloes put the hurt on the Cougars with a sharp 11-5 victory on Tuesday. The Buffaloes not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since May 8, 2025 (when they won 11-1).

Adam Petty was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Max Harris, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.
Floyd County was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .467. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .318 or higher every time they've taken the field this season.
Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last matchup, Patrick County made sure to put some runs up on the board against Liberty on Tuesday. The Cougars blew past the Minuteman 12-1.
Mark Register looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Christian Hylton, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs and two RBI. Mason Cassell was another key player, going 2-for-3 with four RBI and one run.
Floyd County's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Patrick County, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
Floyd County might still be hurting after the 8-0 defeat they got from Patrick County when the teams last played back in May of 2025. Can the Buffaloes avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
