Baseball Game Preview: Tamaqua Blue Raiders vs. North Schuylkill Spartans

Tamaqua is 1-9 against North Schuylkill since April of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Blue Raiders will head out on the road to take on the Spartans at 4:30 p.m. Tamaqua is coming into the contest hot, having won their last four games.

If Tamaqua beats North Schuylkill with three runs on Monday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two matches with that exact score. The Blue Raiders narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Pottsville 3-1.

Mason Ligenza was a major factor no matter where he played. He tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

Ligenza wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Cooper Ansbach, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases. Ansbach has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.

Mount Carmel hit North Schuylkill with a four-run fifth inning on Saturday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Spartans lost 10-0 to the RED TORNADOES. The game marked the first time this season in which the Spartans were not able to get on the board.

Tamaqua's record now sits at 12-1. As for North Schuylkill, their loss dropped their record down to 4-6.

Tamaqua couldn't quite get it done against North Schuylkill in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 as they fell 8-5. Can the Blue Raiders avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
