Baseball Game Preview: Milaca Wolves vs. St. Cloud Cathedral Crusaders

Milaca hasn't had much luck against St. Cloud Cathedral recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Wolves will square off against the Crusaders at 5:00 p.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Milaca took a loss when they played away from home last Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Albany, sneaking past 4-2.

Meanwhile, St. Cloud Cathedral was able to grind out a solid victory over Warroad on Saturday, taking the game 9-6.

Henry Schloe was a major factor no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. Schloe was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. That's the most hits he has posted since back in May of 2024.

In other batting news, St. Cloud Cathedral got a big performance out of Owen Fradette, who scored a run while going 2-for-2. Jacob Oliver was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

St. Cloud Cathedral's win was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-1. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.2 runs over those games. As for Milaca, the win got them back to even at 1-1.

Milaca couldn't quite get it done against St. Cloud Cathedral when the teams last played back in May of 2024 as they fell 5-0. Can the Wolves avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
