Rancho is a perfect 5-0 against Clark since April of 2024 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Rams will be playing at home against the Chargers at 3:30 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
Rancho came up short against Las Vegas on Monday, falling 17-6. The Rams have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Legacy hit Clark with a four-run sixth inning on Wednesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Chargers lost 11-3 to the Longhorns. The loss continues a trend for the Chargers in their meetings with the Longhorns: they've now lost seven in a row.
Sophia DeMonbrun was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 17 batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and seven unearned) runs off six hits. DeMonbrun was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one double. She is on a roll when it comes to home runs, as she's now launched at least one in each of the last four games she's played.
DeMonbrun wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Allison Reed, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple was Reed's first of the season.
Rancho's defeat dropped their record down to 6-10. As for Clark, they now have a losing record of 9-10.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Wednesday. Rancho hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.6 home runs per game. However, it's not like Clark struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.8 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Everything went Rancho's way against Clark when the teams last played back in March, as Rancho made off with a 17-4 victory. Do the Rams have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Chargers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
