Softball Game Preview: West Iredell Warriors vs. North Lincoln Knights

West Iredell is 2-8 against North Lincoln since April of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. West Iredell will host North Lincoln at 6:00 p.m. The two teams are strolling into their matches after big wins in their previous games.

West Iredell's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 25-0 margin over Statesville. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Warriors.

Mattie Blankenship was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with six RBI, three runs, and one stolen base. She also put up a double, which was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Alexis Morrison, who scored three runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

West Iredell hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They are 2-1 when they post two or more strikeouts.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask North Lincoln). Everything went their way against North Iredell on Friday as North Lincoln made off with a 20-10 win. Winning may never get old, but the Knights sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

North Lincoln pushed their record up to 10-2 with the victory, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for West Iredell, the victory was their first at home , bumping their record up to 2-4.

West Iredell suffered a grim 15-3 defeat to North Lincoln in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can West Iredell avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
